Matterform Media was founded in 1992 as a hypermedia design firm and began building Web sites in 1994, the year of the commercial internet. In addition to our Web design practice, we also operate a software design company, which sells and supports several consumer software products through our software site. Matterform Media is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.

Please visit the Matterform milestones page, highlighting some of the achievements we’re especially proud of from our 14 years in the Web business.
Founder and CEO Michael Herrick is a homeschooling father of four young children. During his copious spare time, he is the sort of reader that always gets described as “avid.” Favorite authors (at least recently) include Dante, Updike, Rowling, Holt, Illich and Ortega. After growing up in the Washington, D.C. area, Michael moved to New Mexico in 1988. Michael is the project manager and lead developer for all Matterform’s Web and software projects.
Daniel Lyons has been on the Matterform team for several years. He is a database expert and esoteric programming language enthusiast. In 2004, Daniel taught himself Bayesian statistical analysis so he could program a new version of Spamfire, Matterform’s anti-spam software product. He is the co-developer, with Michael, of Voltaire and responsible for much of its scarier magic.
Ryan Showers recently joined Matterform and we hope to bribe him with fun, interesting work to keep him around for a long time. Ryan is a versatile member of the team, working on everything from programming new features for Voltaire to creating the graphical layouts for new Web sites. Like Daniel, Ryan is a lifelong New Mexico resident.
Matterform has a strategic partnership with INetU, a leading provider of high-availability internet hosting services, and with Google to provide the best email hosting service in the world. The core Matterform team handles most of our projects but we also work with a number of independent contractors who can be brought on board for very large projects.
